Next time you teach grasshopper, I dare you to add this to your class šŸ‘€ This fun play within figure 4 chair is the āœØperfectāœØ prep pose for grasshopper ā€” but itā€™s also a mouthful to cue. Enter: foreshadowing. Arrow arms + self massage + balancing = the perfect way to get your students comfortable and familiar with where youā€™re taking them later on in the flow. I LOVE THIS ONE and I love the entire flow even more. Itā€™s in the Sequencing Hub now, titled āœØBalance In MotionāœØ. Fun fact: I canā€™t do grasshopper but I taught it anyway. And in the flow reference video in the Hub, youā€™ll notice a new character unlockedšŸ‘€, my student Shannon! Who nailed her first grasshopper after taking this class and helped me film it for YOU to bring to your students. šŸ’ Let me know what you think and if youā€™ll take on the challenge of bringing this to your students! Hereā€™s another warm up flow to try in your next class! As much as I love sun sals, this lil flow has all the same benefits (and then some)šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼ Teaching Notes: āœØ this can be a hard flow to follow when teaching one breath per movement. I usually teach 3 breaths per movement the first round + then cue one breath per movement the second time through. āœØ we move through every movement of the spine in this sequence, giving you many teachable moments to educate your students on spinal mobility šŸ‘€ āœØthis flow can be great foreshadow for a number of things! I love the modified side plank to low lunge as a foreshadow for side plank to high lunge. Can you think of any others? This is part of the latest class in the Sequencing Hub, titled ā€œWild Thing FLOW,ā€ which is a nod to a pose that we see in āœØmany formsāœØ throughout, as well as a nod to the dharma talk. I challenged my Sequencing Hub members to come up with a fun way to use blocks to strengthen a part of their studentsā€™ bodies. Hereā€™s my entry! šŸ•ŗšŸ½ I love this hamstring-strengthening drill for a hamstring-opening class, because we know that the balance of strength + flexibility is ~essential.~ Are you digginā€™ this? I have the entire class done-for-you and ready to be taught. Itā€™s packed with fun transitions, fun block use, and hamstring opening. Itā€™s inside the Sequencing Hub! (if youā€™re not a member yet, the link is in my profile šŸ¤šŸ¤) I always love to know who these videos inspire, so let me know if you plan to use this in your next class! If youā€™re bored of using sun sals to warm your class, try this instead. I got so many compliments on this lil warm up from my students! Itā€™s the perfect lil combination of creativity + familiarity šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼ That horizon lunge to malasana transition is inspired by @barefoot_rural_sunshine! Iā€™m obsessed and incorporated it into the main flow, too (which you can find in the Sequencing Hub šŸ‘€ L in b!) First question: how many of you yoga teachers check in with your students before teaching a class + ask if thereā€™s anything theyā€™re craving? I do in āœØmostāœØ of my classes, even though I always have a full class planned and ready. It helps me adjust the sequence on the fly to best serve my students, which is a skill that def comes with time but is ESSENTIAL for building trust between you + your students. The most requested body-part for extra stretching in my community is the hips. By far. (then the lower back, then the neck). If my sequence doesnā€™t have a ton of hip opening, Iā€™ll use this before or in place of my sun sals during the warm up! Itā€™s so important to have poses + flows in our mental (or notes app) arsenal so we can give our students what they need. And I love to be a resource for you šŸ¤šŸ¤ Also.. if you save my posts regularly, Iā€™d love to invite you to be part of the Sequencing Hub! If your students are like šŸ¤” when you cue baby wild thing, this may help! This is a little dynamic vignette thatā€™s perfect for your warm up ā€” it warms your studentsā€™ bodies while laying the foundation for bigger, more taxing poses. Iā€™d love you to answer one, a few, or all of the following in the comments: 1. Do you teach on or off the mat? 2. Do you have any other fun cues for baby wild thing? 3. Did any of my cues spark inspiration for your teaching? 4. Do you find these types of videos helpful? There are tons of voiceover walkthroughs of my sequences in the Sequencing Hub! If youā€™re a creative vinyasa teacher whoā€™s dedicated to enhancing your teaching, thatā€™s the place you wanna be. šŸ¤ Here for you!!! <3 Char #Stealmyflow #ytt #yogateachertraining #yogateachers #yogateachersoftiktok #sequencinghub #creativeflow #creativeyogaflow #creativesequencing #breathestrength #pulsebarbellclub #yoga #yogastudio #mindfulness #flow #wellness #heatedyoga #flexibility #health #movement #stretch #strength #vinyasa #vinyasaflow #restore #northportyoga #northportny #eastnorthportny #longislandyoga

If your class has ~WILD THING~ in it, warm your students up with this! I looooooove this baby variation. It feels so šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼ in my hips, and my students <3 it too. Speaking ofā€¦ I created this thing called the Sequencing Hub. Itā€™s an online community of yoga teachers from alllll over the world who love creative, smart sequencing. There are full class plans ready to be taught, thereā€™s a DIY lab to help you craft your own, thereā€™s continuing education club + Q&As + discussions + bonus classes + more! But itā€™s only for yoga teachers who are serious about growing + teaching ā˜„ļø classes. The L is in my B if that sounds like you šŸ¤ Also, if you teach this, tag me @breathe_strength in a video. I want to see what you craft this into! Hereā€™s my general flow cueing formula: āœØbreath āœØpose name āœØdescription The reason I cue this way is because I teach multilevel classes ā€” there are beginners, there are seasoned yogis, and many in between. By leading with pose name before description, it gives my beginners an opportunity to learn in āœØ2 ways at onceāœØ ā€” they can look at the seasoned yogis and they can listen to my cues (I teach off the mat, so Iā€™m barely demoing). I teach my flows 2x (usually). The first time through is slower, about 3-5 breaths per pose. I cue the breath, pose name, and spend a few breath cycles describing the pose so that it becomes familiar and they know what to feel. That way, the second time through, they know what theyā€™re doing and can get there with just the name of the pose. šŸ•ŗšŸ½ This video is quicker than what Iā€™d actually teach (I only had 3 min!), but this is the general idea šŸ¤ Important āš ļø Iā€™m also careful not to ~over describe~ each pose because sometimes itā€™s just TMI. This video includes a detailed verbal description, but during those 3-5 introductory breaths I also do give plenty of time for non-verbal exploration. I offer hands-on assists, tactile cues, and active demoing alongside my verbal cues. But for the sake of this vid, it was verbal only! AnywayZzzzz! Iā€™m here for more conversation, so let me know if this was helpful + if I can help in any other way. šŸ¤Char #Stealmyflow #ytt #yogateachertraining #yogateachers #yogateachersofitiktok #sequencinghub #creativeflow #creativeyogaflow #creativesequencing #breathestrength #pulsebarbellclub #yoga #yogastudio #mindfulness #flow #wellness #heatedyoga #flexibility #health #movement #stretch #strength #vinyasa #vinyasaflow #restore #northportyoga #northportny #eastnorthportny #longislandyoga
