because sandwiches are JUST bread salads 💕 sandwiches are one of my favorite foods and they can easily be incorporated in a nutrient dense diet. Here’s how I build my sandwiches when I’m out ⬇️ 1. Bread - I prefer sourdough because it’s lower on the glycemic index, which will not have much of an effect on your blood sugar aka energy levels. Sourdough is also easier on digestion since it’s been fermented and is a good source of probiotics. 2. Protein source - since deli meat is a highly processed source of meat, learning to incorporate lean & less processed sources of meat-  like roasted chicken or canned tuna- will be a great source of protein and more beneficial for your gut health & overall well being  3. Sauce - since many sauces can be made with certain oils, preservatives, etc I tend to opt for less processed sauces like pesto, which is made of basil, pine nuts, etc. I believe you should enjoy the sauce you love if you’re already working on building a sandwich that’s nutrient dense and beneficial to your health! 4. Vegetables & fruit - load up on these! These are your sources of color & fiber that will ensure you feel fuller for longer, provide your body with antioxidants, and promote digestion. I specifically LOVE adding raw red onion since it’s a great source of prebiotics (aka food for your gut bacteria) & arugula since it is a bitter food, which stimulates digestion.  *drink of choice * - I love coconut water (especially @harmlessharvest ) for a great source of electrolytes to hydrate my body and provide my body with nutrients it loves ✨ You do not have to change what you eat, but how you eat it!
