Tactile sensitivity??? Clothing. Sheets. Hand holding. Massages. Even kissing. Allll a part of the tactile sensation.  And how regulated you are for sure has a lot to do with touch and sensitivity. It’s all part of what makes up our sensory system. tactile hypersensitivity occurs because the brain pays too much attention to light touch and protective sensations from the skin. Instead of listening to the extra information available from the discriminative pathway, the brain keeps paying attention to the light touch and protective sensations. Curious. We all have sensory needs.  We all crave certain input and avoid others.  We all have our “quirks,” but trust me, they are totally normal.  Now let’s add some hustle culture into the mix.  Those sensory needs and behaviors are totally going to ramp up. WHY? Because those behaviors are taking place to attempt to regulate your nervous system naturally. Does that sound broken or crazy to you? Ha. That’s what I thought.  The real issue lies when we have extended periods of stress and anxiety.  That’s when your brain is in trouble.  That’s when the behaviors stick. That’s when your brain begins to pattern into that state on a regular basis.  That’s just no bueno.  So, question. Are you feeling burnout? Overwhelmed? Stressed out? And DONE? If so, that’s a sign you are living in a chronic state of dysregulation.  And what does that mean? It’s time. Time for support. Time for help. And where can you do that? WITH ME!!! YUP. When your body lives in a state of fight or flight it begins to pattern and stay there. We mistake control for a feeling of safety. Perfectionism begins to feel like safety. And when we finally release those patterns you may find your brain and body want to crash. Crash, because it’s been in a heightened state for so long. Crash because it’s exhausted from over-functioning all those years. Crash because it’s been craving rest you didn’t even know you needed for so long. It’s ok. Don’t judge it. Don’t shame it.
