A single leg press and a Bulgarian split squat are two effective exercises for glute growth, but not the same. A Bulgarian split squat (when you are not holding onto something to make it more stable) requires more internal stabilization, which means the glute medius will work to stabilize the pelvis. The glute medius does the stability work while the glute max is doing the dynamic work here. In contrast, a single leg press is going to be glute max due to the stability offered up by this machine, therefore the glute medius does not have to work to stabilize. Both exercises are valuable additions to a training program, but they serve different purposes. By understanding the nuances of each exercise, you can optimize your training for better results.
