In the past, I’d dive in, not because I was really craving it, but just because it was there. Sound familiar? Here’s the mindset shift that changed everything for me: ✹ It’s okay to treat yourself—but make it intentional. If you’re not truly hungry or don’t feel excited about what’s in front of you, ask yourself: ‘Am I eating this because I want it, or just because it’s there?’ ✹ Think big picture. Indulging every now and then doesn’t ruin progress, but doing it out of habit instead of enjoyment can add up over time. ✹ Plan ahead when possible. If I know there’s an office event, I decide beforehand whether I want to join in or stick to my plan. That way, my choice feels empowered, not impulsive. I’m not about restrictions or ‘forbidden foods.’ This is about building a healthy relationship with food—one where I honor my goals and enjoy treats when they’re worth it. What's the best way to watch what you eat?  Counting calories. But it's not the only way... Making healthier decisions throughout the day is a great way to reduce calorie intake and every little bit counts.  If someone told you that you could save $200 by making a small change to your life you wouldn't hesitate.  So why not take action when I tell you that you can save 200-400 calories by swapping fries for veggies, or soda for water.  You can save yourself hundreds of calories by switching from a bag of chips to a serving of vegetables.  You could save yourself hundreds of calories by switching from a can of soda to a can of carbonated water.  I know it's easier said than done sometimes. So plan ahead. Buy a big bag of frozen vegetables instead of a big bag of Doritos. Buy a 12 pack of carbonated water instead of a 12 pack of soda.  It's a lot easier to make the decision at the grocery store than it is at home when you are hungry.  Set yourself up for success by being active in your decision making.  People have always told me that I'm lean because I have a fast metabolism. Fun fact, I don't. But I am actively making decisions like this and I'm healthier because of it.
